Mark Langham, whilst working for the Weather Research Section at N.A.S.A., developed a satellite-based system capable of calming the extremes of weather by influencing the earth’s magnetic field. He got the idea from the changes in the weather seen when electrically charged particles from solar storms hit the field. He could not however, have foreseen the circumstances which now throw the world’s weather into the turmoil "Climate Control" was created to ease. Mark must now regain control of the system....before it is too late.

Climate Control edition by Robert Penfold Literature Fiction eBooks

Climate Control is 31 chapters long and is written by an author from the UK, so some of the terminology might be unfamiliar to Americans. However, I did not feel that this distracted from the story. This author's writing style is not quite as smooth and flowing as some authors, but his ability to tell a story with elaborate detail is unquestionable. There were a couple of typos and grammatical errors, but basically I felt that the writing was good. The suspense is definitely there and the author does an excellent job with character development. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the dramatic ending. For a detailed editorial review, visit The Research Nerd at researchnerd.blogspot.com.

Climate Control edition by Robert Penfold Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

First - book is pointedly, beat you over the head obsessed with global warming theology. Second - even though supposedly set in the U.S. with American characters the language used has a stilted British slant. Really, how many American speakers say "whilst" repeatedly. Third - the dialogue is painfully awkward at best. Fourth - the tone of the story is decidedly third person, uninterested. Painfully written, unbelievable scenarios presented in poor choice of character voice.
I enjoyed reading this book very much and at times found it hard to put down. I like the twists and switching between characters. I think it's amazing this book has so many accurate details of hurricane Sandy but was published several months before it hit.
The forces of nature are great servants, once we have them under control, but evil and devastatingly wicked masters when we lose that control. This was n "on the edge of your seat, page turner". Robert Penfold did not disappoint.
If you like science based adventure stories, you'll enjoy this story. Fast paced excitement and interesting science. A good read.
The premise of this book grabbed me and I thought I had a winner. However, the style of writing really put me off. The author went into great detail describing things that were very trivial to the story line. So much so that the book actually got bogged down and boring in spots. I found myself quickly scanning pages just to get to the next part of the main story--that is--the Climate Control satellites and their usage. Five stars for the title and idea--1 star for the writing.
What a timely action thriller!

Coming on the heels of Hurricane Sandy, I was reading this book as the winds blew and the rain came pouring down, wishing it was true and we had such a weather control system.

Mr. Penfold's debut thriller is a good read. Plenty of action, good dialogue and some twists and turns of plot to keep the reader enthralled. It was a bit of a slow start and could have used a bit more action at the beginning to hook the reader. It took a while for me to get into it, but once I did there was no putting it down.

This is a British author who obviously knows New York well from some of his descriptions. His details on the impact of a hurricane hitting New York City, filling subways with water, trees and houses ripped apart, read like they were coming out of today's headlines.

An interesting plot premise where terrorists hijack the Climate Control system and wreak havoc to achieve their ends. The author's scientific descriptions how the system works were absorbing and seemed so real, it made you believe it could actually work.

I look for more good books from this up and coming talented author. Excellent work, Robert.
